Some 250 people attended the “Cabinet is Back” event in the garden of The Cabinet on Saturday 11 July, according to Andrew Grainger. The estimate is based on the number of drinks and pizza vouchers handed out.
The Grainger family acquired the building earlier this year and have announced their intention to re-open it as a village pub. This will involve a considerable refurbishment project.
People from Reed and the surrounding area were offering their views on what they hope to see from the “new” Cabinet when it reopens – whilst also enjoying a drink and a pizza in the summer sunshine. Numerous messages were posted on the Reed community WhatsApp group thanking the Graingers for their generosity in hosting the event.
Posting afterwards on the Barkway and Reed Facebook pages, Andrew said:
“I just wanted to post a follow up after the wonderful day we had yesterday! The entire Grainger family were delighted to welcome over 250+ local residents from Reed & surrounding villages. We are so grateful for everyone that turned up to support the event. It was a pleasure to host everyone in the glorious sunshine.
“We have a long road ahead, a lot of work to do, but we are committed to ensuring that the Cabinet is not only a wonderful venue for everyone but a viable business that will be able to operate for years to come!
“We look forward to welcoming you all back soon and will be sure to share our progress along the way!”
