Reed Parish Council has successfully applied to the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government for authority to borrow up to £400,000 to purchase The Cabinet public house should it come on the market and if it appears expedient to do so in order to save it for the community. This followed consultation of parishioners in writing and at a public meeting.The planning appeal was heard in November 2018 and the appeal was dismissed. However, no decision has yet been taken to draw down any such loan. Update: - The borrowing authority has now lapsed but could be sought again if it appears expedient to do so.
